The VIENNALE will take place from October 16 to 28.
The International Program consists of over 100 new
feature films, documentaries and shorts and is completed
by some magnificent examples of film history.
This year the festival pays tribute to the work of the
French critic, filmmaker and producer LUC MOULLET. A
second Tribute honors the work of one of the most
charismatic acting stars in contemporary American cinema:
JEFF BRIDGES.
Celebrating his 100th anniversary , the VIENNALE
presents eight films of a great master of Japanese
cinematograpy: KENJI MIOZOGUCHI (1898-1956). Another
Homage will be dedicated to one of the most popular
singers and actors of American show business: DEAN
The Main Program includes a number of recent
discoveries as well as the latest films by VIENNALE
"regulars" such as Vincent Gallo, John Sayles, Naomi
Kawase, Robert Duvall, Peter Weir, Stephen Dwoskin and
Nanni Moretti. For now, we won't tell you more.

The annual VIENNALE Retrospective in cooperation with
the Austrian Film Museum is dedicated to the great French
iconoclast JEAN-LUC GODARD. It is the first comprehensive
showcase of Godard's work in Austria in 25 years.
On the occasion of the VIENNALE press conference on
October 2, 1998, the entire program will be presented. A
