Starting at 9:00am Saturday, July 21, 2007, the Freshi Film Festival will bring you original films and screenplays made by students from around the world. Produced by the International Family Film Festival (IFFF), it is an opportunity for the whole family to see films that are exciting, new, and family friendly. Raleigh Studios, the longest continuously operating studio in the country, will open its doors to welcome the best and brightest young filmmakers, ages 6 to 18, from around the globe. Filmmakers will receive honors and awards in drama, stop-motion animation, documentary, promotional documentary and screenplays in drama, comedy, and sci-fi/adventure, and winners will receive software and hardware to continue their filmmaking careers.
Previous entrants have displayed the breadth of amazing feats young filmmakers are capable of accomplishing. One winner, Challie Stovall, only 12 at the time, was invited to teach kids his age in Ireland. Another entrant, Michael Pappavero, was sponsored by the Rotary Club USA to film a documentary in Kenya, Africa and 12 year-old Alex Capogna filmed a short documentary of the Space Camp in Alabama. This Freshi Film Festival is living proof that expression through film is a universal language and there is no age limit to speak it.
This Freshi Film Festival will be held at Raleigh Studios, which is still active with hits such as Ugly Betty and The Closer shooting on their lot. The studio has stages, post-production facilities and state-of-the-art screening rooms. The Freshi Film Festival is excited to have such a historic and grand site to display the talent and hard work of this year's entrants of films and screenplays "Made by Kids, For Kids?".
Films submitted from all Freshi Filmworx programs will be screened throughout the day. The event will also be filled with skateboard/stunt cinematography demonstrations, make-up demonstrations, celebrity signings, hands-on workshops in animation, acting, filmmaking and participatory demonstrations in combat, lighting and tours of working sound stages. This is a full immersive festival highlighting the creative work of young filmmakers. The price of admission includes a bag lunch-once you get there you won't want to leave! To see a sneak preview of some of the films submitted visit www.freshiflix.com and check out some of the amazing short films uploaded by emerging filmmakers.
The afternoon is filled with the excitement of the screening of all film finalists, a Screenwriter's Showcase and the Final Award presentation beginning at 4 pm.
Tickets are available both on-line and by telephone reservation. Admission is $10 and includes all activities scheduled from 9 am to 5 pm and a sack lunch, beverages and snacks throughout the day.
