    ETERNAL SUMMER at Inside Out
     

    Reel Asian is proud to co-present Eternal Summer at Inside Out the 17th Annual Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival.

    Eternal Summer (Sheng xia guang nian)
    Location: Royal Ontario Museum
    Date / Time: Fri May 18 09:30pm

    We all remember the defining moments in our lives. The leap from youth to adulthood is one of the most challenging, as it helps to shape who we will become. It is also one of the most rewarding. Eternal Summer, from Taiwanese director Leste Chen, is a beautiful and emotional exploration of such times.

    With a haunting soundtrack, exquisite cinematography and believable script, this is a compelling and tender look at the end of innocence. Eternal Summer is poignant and emotional storytelling at its finest.

    Take a whirlwind tour of East Asia, featuring diverse cinematic expressions from the region's old and new generations of filmmakers.

    South Korea's biggest box office hit, King and The Clown is a sumptuous period piece about two male jesters who become the stars in the court of a tyrannical monarch but not without a huge price.

    Hammered Down: East Asian Shorts
    Monday May 21, 5pm / Royal Ontario Museum
    A collection of short works from the region that focus on the formation of identity in a region where conformity is the norm.

    Happy Together (Wong Kar-Wai, Hong Kong)
    Tuesday May 22, 5:15pm / Royal Ontario Museum
    The 1997 Wong Kar-Wai classic stars Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung as gay lovers living out the last days of their relationship as expatriates in Buenos Aires.

    The Chinese Botanist's Daughters (Sijie Dai, Canada/France)
    Tuesday May 22, 9:45pm / Royal Ontario Museum
    A sumptuous epic that tells the story of Li-Ming and her passionate affair with the An, the daughter of a renowned botantist.

    Spider Lilies (Zero Chou, Taiwan)
    Wednesday May 23, 9:30pm / Royal Ontario Museum
    Starring two of Asia's hottest young celebrities, this dreamy lesbian love story follows Jade, a sexy webcam girl who falls for Takeko, a tattoo artist.

    I Don't Want to Sleep Alone (Tsai Ming-liang, Taiwan)
    Friday May 25, 5:15pm / Royal Ontario Museum
    A sublime and melancholy drama that captures the tentative but intoxicating couplings that unfold between five characters in steamy Kuala Lumpur.
